Op 16 november komt Gonzalo Vargas Llosa (Regionale Vertegenwoordiger van UNHCR ) vertellen over de situatie van vluchtelingen wereldwijd vandaag. Gonzalo Vargas Llosa took up his post as UNHCR’s Representative for EU affairs in Brussels in September 2018. He arrived in Brussels after four years as the Refugee Agency's Representative in London. Beforehand, he was Representative in the Dominican Republic for four years. He has also served in the New York, Panama and UNHCR’s Geneva headquarters, as well as on emergency missions in Pakistan, Darfur, Sudan and Libya. His first UNHCR position during the Yugoslav Succession Wars, from 1994-1996 he was an Executive Assistant to the UNHCR Special Envoy, based in Zagreb, Croatia. Prior to joining UNHCR, he worked for UNOCHA from 1991-1994. Born in Peru, he studied Spanish and English Literature at University College London and speaks Spanish, English and French.
